construction. You are visitor # INTRODUCTION: My past experience: I had never worked with Styrofoam or fiberglass/resin. I do have a nice woodworking shop and access to a welder. This helped to make the parts needed but is not required. You could pay to have someone make the tough items or purchase them from Universal. I found the prices from Universal are tough to beat and you know they will work. I did not find items bought from Universal cheaper anywhere else although I didn't look to much. I started building the hovercraft in the last week of February 2000 & completed it 3 months and one week later, the first week in June. If you plan on building a hovercraft for the first time, it is a must to start with plans. I bought mine from Universalhovercraft.com. Plans cost around $35 and will save you many times more than that in money and frustration. All the thoughts on these pages are mine. I got allot of ideas from other hoverlovers, mostly the boys at universal. When I first completed the craft I had 80 lbs. Of thrust and the craft went about 38 to 42 mph. I have built my second prop, again after asking more questions. I now have about 115 lbs. Thrust and the craft will easily run 50 mph. I am now building my 3rd prop Part wood part styrofoam. I believe I can get a better throttle response with a lighter prop. We will soon see...... My prop page has begun!Another Excellent site on building the UH-13P
